Best Mediterranean Party Islands

The Mediterranean Sea is known to have the best party islands in the world. There’s something about the perfect weather, coupled with old money Europeans and new money Americans that makes the perfect combo for the best parties in the world.

1. Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza is without a doubt at the top of every list about partying in the Mediterranean. The beaches are perfect, Hï Ibiza and Ushuaia are the best clubs in the world, and the best DJ’s and popular celebrities are routinely there almost every weekend in the summer. Add in the planes landing overhead while at Ushuaia and you have such a vibe. Ibiza is also much more cost-effective than the other islands: you can experience all levels of luxury at all levels of price points, and still feel like you’re getting a bang for your buck.

Be sure to go to the white party on top of the Hard Rock Cafe, the foam party at 5 AM in Amnesia, and the Sunday boat cruise that takes you swimming in the middle of the day.

2. Mykonos, Greece

Mykonos is another place that’s already famous for it’s amazing beach day parties, nightclubs, DJ’s, and international crowd. The Mykonos downtown area is the busiest and most tourist-friendly area, but if you want to save money, you can easily stay closer to the airport. Taxi’s are a little more difficult to find in this area, though, so renting a few ATV’s to get around the island is definitely worth it.

3. Hvar, Croatia

Hvar, the small island off of Croatia’s coast, is known as a destination for European royalty to party at and even recently entertained Prince Harry. The population of Hvar is much smaller than say, Mykonos, but that doesn’t stop Hvar from having a great atmosphere and one of my favorite for Mediterranean party islands. This, along with Croatia’s exchange rate, makes Hvar a more affordable destination.

Go to Carpe Diem Beach Club which is usually open during the day and then again after midnight. Go at night. Seven bar is good beforehand for some good music with a live saxophone boost. Hula Hula bar is fun during the day. Get a €30 massage almost anywhere on the island. If you go during Croatia’s Ultra Europe, be prepared for an even busier nightlife.

4. Ios, Greece

I’ve only gone to Ios when it was the end of summer, mid September, which is after the party season so while it was a lot of fun, it also had an amazing relaxing side to it. Mylopotas was my favorite beach. Fun Pub was my favorite bar, a chill and easygoing Irish bar

5. To be determined islands:

• St. Tropez – Not an island but should be included in top party destinations that are in the Med
• Mallorca – Another Spain island that I hear is more chill than these other islands
• Ayia Napa – Cyprus is bound to have amazing things and a crazy Mediterranean party island
